Our History

Deercove was originally purchased in 1964 by Barbara and Gary Beardsley and successfully run for over forty years

The original Deercove Beach Resort consisted of five very rustic cabins on the sandy shores of Big Manistique Lake.  Small, two-bedroom cabins of knotty pine welcomed mostly repeat guests year after year in spite of only cold running water inside and a community shower house shared by all of the cabins.

Gary and Barbara’s guests became family and over the years, grown children returned with their kids for a simple vacation of sand, water, fishing, playing in the waves in rubber innertubes and cooking hotdogs and marshmallows over bonfires on the beach.

Rebuilding the Past

After Gary and Barbara retired the resort was closed for nearly 20 years.

In 2017, Gary and Barbara’s daughter Tish and her husband Tom started the planning process for bringing Deercove Beach back to life.

Two of the original Deercove Cabins– Cabin 6 and Cabin 7– have been completely rebuilt.
